Bridgend & the Circular Walk Walking Map

The Bridgend Circular Walk is a 35-kilometre (approximately 22-mile) loop that offers walkers a diverse journey through the scenic landscapes and rich heritage of Bridgend County Borough. Starting and ending in Bridgend, the trail meanders through a mix of rural paths, woodlands, and small villages, providing a relatively flat and accessible route for most walkers. Along the way, walkers can enjoy the tranquil beauty of the River Ogmore and its surrounding countryside. The route also passes through areas of historical significance, including the village of Coychurch and the grounds of Ewenny Priory, a unique rural village situated on the edge of the Ewenny River.

In addition to its natural beauty, the Bridgend Circular Walk offers glimpses into the area's rich history. Walkers can explore the ruins of Coity Castle, a Norman castle built in the 12th century, and Newcastle Castle, which overlooks the town centre of Bridgend. The trail also includes a crossing over the historic Old Bridge in Bridgend, a medieval stone footbridge dating back to around 1425.
