South West Coast Path Walking Map 5: Menachurch Point to Trebarwith

This fifth in the series of South West Coast Path maps starts at Menachurch Point and ends at Trebarwith, a distance of approximately 26 miles. Leaving Menachurch Point, you soon arrive at the town of Bude and not much further on is Widemouth Bay, this stretch of coastline was not only hazardous for ships, a fair few wrecked around Bude, but it was also renowned for smuggling. This was probably helped by the many coves on the way to Boscastle, this village was made famous in August 2004 by a flash flood that caused extensive damage and resulted in the largest peacetime rescue operation ever launched in the UK. The path now enters an area steeped in myth and legend as it reaches Tintagel with its famous castle, inextricably linked with King Arthur and alleged to be his birth place. It is now only a short distance to Trebarwith Strand and is golden beach.
