The Ridgeway 3: Watlington Hill to Ivinghoe Beacon Walking Map

The Ridgeway (87 miles) commences at Overton Hill in Wiltshire and follows a waymarked route along a chalk ridge through the North Wessex Downs National Landscape (formerly AONB) and the hills and valleys of the Chilterns National Landscape until it reaches Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire. It was opened as a National Trail in 1973 and celebrated 50 years in 2023.

The Ridgeway is known as Britain's oldest road, and still follows the same route used since prehistoric times by pilgrims, travellers and herdsmen.

This last map in the three-part series starts at Watlington Hill before heading over the Chiltern Hills towards Ivinghoe Beacon via the numerous hills of Lodge, Whiteleaf, Pulpit, Coombe, Bacombe and Pitstone.
