South West Coast Path 21: Lulworth to South Haven Point Walking Map

This last (twenty-first) in the series of South West Coast Path maps starts at Lulworth before continuing to Kimmeridge, Swanage, Studland, and South Haven Point (start/finish of SWCP). It offers an awe-inspiring journey through some of the most geologically and historically significant landscapes on the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The South West Coast Path National Trail footpath leads walkers across dramatic chalk and limestone cliffs, past sea stacks, coves, and natural rock formations like the famous Lulworth Cove and Stair Hole. Hill walks up to Bindon Hill, Ballard Down, and Nine Barrow Down reward with panoramic coastal views. The heathlands and wetlands near Studland and Poole Harbour provide rich alternatives for nature lovers.

This stretch of coast is steeped in heritage. The ruined Corfe Castle, visible from walking trails near Swanage, is a highlight for history enthusiasts, and Brownsea Island offers a peaceful retreat with views across the harbour and links to Baden-Powell’s scouting history. The Isle of Purbeck and the surrounding area fall within the Dorset National Landscape (formerly AONB). Walkers will also encounter the Swanage Railway, a restored steam line offering a nostalgic journey through the countryside. From fossil hunting at Kimmeridge to cliff-top walks over Old Harry Rocks and sandy bays at Studland, this region promises a diverse and rewarding walking experience.
