South West Coast Path 3: Saunton to Buck's Mills Walking Map

This third in the series of South West Coast Path maps starts in Saunton and ends at Buck’s Mill, a distance of approximately 37 miles. Leaving Saunton, the trail passes Braunton Burrows, the largest sand dune system in England, making its way back into Braunton before heading along the Taw Estuary to Barnstaple. It then crosses Long Bridge before joining the Tarka Trail and returning along the south side of the estuary towards Instow. The path continues south aside the Torridge Estuary reaching Bideford and crossing the Long Bridge, one of the longest mediaeval bridges in England, being 222 yards long with 24 arches. It then travels north back up the estuary to Appledore, a shipbuilding and seafaring port in the Victorian era, which has a maritime museum. The South West Coastal Path continues around Northam Burrows Country Park before reaching Westward Ho!, named after Charles Kingsley’s novel (1855), which was basically created as a seaside resort. The next stretch is along the cliffs, allowing stunning views, arriving at Buck’s Mill after about 8 miles.
